So Where Has Jerry Been?

I have been thinking through a lot of things... This has led me to reach a number of important conclusions about life in this wild and wonderful world. It's been an interesting and magical time for me!

What did I come up with all of that time on my hands?

The world would be a better place if everybody thought twice before speaking once. People need to realize that flying off of the handle and having an attitude with others doesn't make the world a better place. Ask yourself, is what I am doing helping mankind, the world and making a difference? Artists, teachers, public safety and others come to mind as fulfilling and serving this noble and worthy cause.

Love is a wonderful thing. Face it. Love is a wonderful thing. Love your family, they are usually the only one you get in this lifetime. Love your friends for the support and care they give to you. Love your life because it is yours and you have the right and will to do with it anything you want.

Time is fluid and not a fixed resource until you try to start and quantify it. Daylights Savings Time is a stupid idea. We have artificial light sources nowadays, don't you know? In fact, instead of having a second based on the rotational speed of the Earth (which is slowing), why not make it a universal constant? In fact, instead of time zones, I'd rather just have the whole planet function off of a standard time and be done with it. Watches, clocks and other timepieces can easily be kept up to date with low-frequency radio signals or by satellite information. I don't get it...

You have as much time in a day as anybody else does on any given day; make the most of it! Then again, if you like sleeping in until noon, that's okay too... Just don't complain that you missed out on something!

Don't limit yourself, instead work to be the best while expecting and planning against the worst. It's a living hell being a perfectionist. My solution was to take on this philosophy. This way, I always do my best at everything I set myself to but if my best isn't enough, I'm still pleased with the results because I have anticipated and done the legwork to prevent the worst. It's not perfect, but it works for me. Your mileage may vary.

Your definition of reality is shaped by your perceptions. Ask anybody with myopia. I remember growing up as a child. I had very poor eyesight but I was able to function up until about 2nd or 3rd grade without any problems. I thought that everybody saw things the way I did: blurry, vague and incoherent. It wasn't until I got eyeglasses for the very first time that I began to see things as they really were. Now that I have just gone through laser eye surgery and have nearly 20/10 vision, I'm most grateful for the blessing of clear eyesight after all these years. The moral of the story is that unless you stop to consider how other people perceive things, you may end up not being able to communicate things clearly.

Compassionate conservatism is a contradiction of terms. Face it. The Republicans are out to pave the way for big business to run things around here. The Democrats are out to take care of themselves. Neither party is working to appease and support the middle which is the majority of the country that doesn't know exactly what must be done but knows that something must be done. I support independant thinkers and those like them who are willing to buck the system to just lay things out the way they are. Sugar-coating things won't make anything any better. In fact, medicine should be bitter and we need to forego some of the fancy entrapments that we have and accept certain inalienable facts. This country was founded primarily by Christians and there are very few federally-recognized holidays with a religious bent. Deal with it! You have the freedom to worship as you see fit (or not). You don't have the freedom to make be think a certain way, enforce what religion I should be a part of or to punish me for my beliefs.
